FESTIVAL - CONFERENCE OF TRADITIONAL DODECANESE MUSIC IN LEROS
The Agency for Cultural Development of Dodecanese in collaboration with the Sub-Prefecture of Kalymnos Islands and the Instructive and Cultural Lerian Youth Society "Artemis" in their effort to save maintenance and dissemination of cultural heritage of the Dodecanese, co organize and this year for the 2nd festival / conference of music in the Dodecanese.
The meeting will be held on Leros on 3,4,5 July 2009. Subject: "Weddings in the Dodecanese.
We believe that this is a unique opportunity to highlight the special features of folk heritage of our islands and to a musical acquaintance among researchers-folklore and local bodies of culture of the islands of our prefecture.
We invite you to attend and join us in reliving the local customs & songs around marriage which is the theme of this year's festival.

ANNOUNCEMENT By the Instructive and Cultural Lerian Youth Society "ARTEMIS":
DUE TO THE SECOND DODECANESE TRADITIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE THIS YEAR ON LEROS, OUR ASSOCIATION IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MAGAZINE “ΧΟΡΕΥΩ” DECIDED TO MAKE AT THE SAME TIME A SEMINAR ABOUT TRADITIONAL DANCES OF DODECANESE, IN PARTICULAR WE WILL TEACH YOU DANCES FROM:
1. ASKLIPIO OF RODES
2. TILOS
3. NISIROS
4. LEROS
FOR THIS REASON HIGHLY TRAINED DANCING TEACHERS WILL COME TO OUR ISLAND FROM THE ABOVE ISLANDS AND IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MUSICIANS, WHO WILL BE ON LEROS FOR THE FESTIVAL, WILL GIVE YOU A FULL IMAGE OF THE MUSIC AND DANCING OF OUR ISLANDS. IN THE MEANTIME WE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DANCE AND DRINK WITH THEM AT FEASTS THAT WILL TAKE PLACE FOR THIS REASON.
